So far we have used a time signature of 4/4.
This means there are four quarter notes in each measure (or bar).
If we use a time signature of 2/4, there are 2 quarter notes in each measure. 
A time signature is written at the beginning of every piece of music.

If we use a time signature of 3/4, there are 3 quarter notes in each measure.

Here are 3 measures (or bars) of 2/4 time. Bar lines divide each bar from the next one.
